Kolumba being Guest: Martin Frommelt »Creation«
Donaueschingen Music-Festival

What is a museum doing at one of the most renowned Festivals for new music? Kolumba has been invited by the festival's organizers to create a space for the image and the word alongside the predominance of sound and music. Martin Frommelt's »Creation - five constellations concerning creation«, a work similar to a portfolio with many different painted pages (1989-1998), involves a very unusual performance concerning staff and time: five hours of continuous page-turning and looking correspond with the spoken word: actors moving around in the room along with the audience read a choice of texts corresponding with each constellation. Kolumba thus repeats an aesthetic experiment whose first performance was given in the Schauspielhaus Köln in 2003. This year's festival poster has been designed by Martin Frommelt using a motif from one of his »Creations« (see picture).
