Arnold Steffens (1851 – 1923)
Chairman of the Society for Christian Art Museum director 1905 – 1923 Arnold Steffens was born on 30 March 1851 in Niederzier and became ordained as priest on 30 July 1876. On 6 November 1888 he became vicar of the Cologne Cathedral. On 8 April 1903 he became Advisor to the General Vicariate. From 1906 to 1923 he was president of the “Christian Society for the Promotion of the Fine Arts in the Archbishopric of Cologne” as well as chairman of the board of the museum. On 6 April 1921 he was made an Official. Arnold Steffens died on 19 September 1923. | Art museum of the
