The Museum in the Body
You can get started right away, wherever you are. While you are reading these words your body adopts a certain stance. Perhaps you are sitting at your desk. Your eyes are alert as they scan the individual letters in a fluent sequence on the screen. The rest of your body is supportive of this activity, continuing to perform all vital processes. Our experience of the world depends on our bodies. – To what extent is art also a physical experience? Can art become a sensual encounter made by the body when detached from the usual tête-a-tête between the object and the viewer in a given space? What other opportunities are available to engage with art beyond a purely intellectual discourse? »The museum in the body« addresses these questions in its own way. The starting point is the museum as an architectural and institutional body. A guided tour takes you through the rooms without you having to be there yourself. You are invited to explore your perceptions and the physical resonance of an artwork in a playful manner. No prerequisites are necessary – just the readiness to listen along with a spark of curiosity! You can get started right away, wherever you are. Are you ready?
